I had the pleasure of a heavenly, albeit short stay, at this idyllic property in July 2022.

There’s nothing like a warm Mauritian welcome to get you into that relaxed holiday vibe. Constance Hotels & Resorts are experts at making you feel at home, from the moment you arrive until it is time to say au revoir.
Their genuine pleasure and passion for hospitality are seen and felt throughout your stay, with intuitive, flawless service. The Constance Belle Mare Plage team make it very tough to leave, but that’s a hardship I’m willing to deal with many times over. 😉
2. LUXURY ACCOMMODATION
While most people don’t spend much time in their room or suite, it is vital that your private space exudes a sense of tranquillity and relaxation. The beautiful Junior Suite did exactly that. With an ocean view overlooking a swimming pool and swaying palms, I felt relaxed and calm amongst the warm colours and stylish contemporary decor.
The furnished balcony was ideal for morning meditation sessions and coffee, while the Suite provided an array of modern amenities – air-conditioning, mini-bar, individual safe, Wi-Fi, Apple Mac Mini, desk and sitting area, telephone with voicemail and TV/satellite channels. You are guaranteed a great night’s rest on an extremely comfortable bed with cool, luxe linen.
The spacious bathroom features double vanities, a separate shower, a bathtub and a toilet, along with a walk-in dressing room and hairdryer. I love the natural Constance Spa range of bathroom amenities, perfect for a self-pampering session after a day in the sun. The bathroom scale came in handy when weighing my luggage; but not so much when it came to weighing myself!
All rooms and suites are orientated towards the Indian Ocean, and buildings are no higher than 3 floors with no elevators or lifts. Two Junior Suites are wheelchair accessible. Junior Suites are ideal for families with 2 children under 18 or 3 adults.

3. A FOOD & WINE LOVERS PARADISE!
The food and wine experience at Constance Belle Mare Plage is a fusion of exotic cuisines from around the globe. Wine connoisseurs will marvel at the breathtaking Blue Penny Cellar, an exclusive wine cellar housing around 35,000 bottles from more than 2,500 wineries around the world!
Be prepared for a delectable culinary journey as you taste your way around 8 chic restaurants and 8 trendy bars. A melting pot of sumptuous fare is presented with flair, tantalising your tastebuds with local flavours. As always, the service is attentive and impeccable.
Breakfast is a delicious affair at La Citronelle, a beautiful, relaxed restaurant with panoramic views of the beach. Choose from a wide variety of traditional and contemporary dishes, with al fresco dining as an option, either at breakfast or dinner.
We dined on traditional Indian Ocean Island dishes at the Deer Hunter Restaurant, located in the clubhouse of the Legend Golf Course with a lovely view of the greens. Hosted by Jason Poinen, the authentic ambience accompanied by fine wines, delicious food and the lovely company was simply wonderful.
The main course was served family style with a variety of Chicken Stew, Fish Curry, Venison Curry, Faratha aka Roti, Rice, Black Lentil Fricassée and assorted chutneys, paired with fine wines, of course. We ended with a cocktail-making class at the Deer Hunter Bar. The cool cocktails were very refreshing and so tasty! Keep an eye out for the Java deer that roam around the greens and trees.
Ehad Bhaukaurally hosted our small group at the Blu Sushi Lounge. This chic restaurant oozes glamour and style, with an emphasis on local, fresh and sustainable products. The Asian à la carte restaurant offers an extensive menu of innovative dishes, designed by Chef Alex Lowli Adani. The sushi was beyond sensational!
Chef Alex’s signature dishes include Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeno, and several dishes inspired by Mauritian cuisine. Feeling thirsty? Take your pick from a range of Japanese whiskies, wine, a large selection of sake or cocktails.
Dining at the Blue Penny Cellar is very special. Epicureans will delight in the fine fare and wines on offer at the elegant, sophisticated wine bistro. Choose from gourmet cold cuts and cheese, homemade delicacies or enjoy a wine flight experience.
Our dinner hosted by Fabrice Maingard was nothing short of spectacular and a highlight of my stay at Constance Belle Mare Plage. The sumptuous 4-course meal was beautifully paired with wines from France and New Zealand. Definitely one of my top three meals on the island!
Our farewell meal was a surprise breakfast prepared for us on the beach. Toes in sun-kissed sand with the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore, I could’ve stayed there forever.

4. SPORT & LEISURE FOR YOUR PLEASURE!
Fancy a dive in crystal-clear Indian Ocean waters? How about water skiing? Prefer to be on terra firma? No worries! I swam in the turquoise ocean (pure bliss!) and spent some time poolside (there is a heated pool) before we had to depart.
